SIGIR 2012 Student Travel Support
SIGIR Student Travel Grants
The ACM Special Interest Group on Information Retrieval (ACM SIGIR) invites applications for small grants to help cover the cost of travel, living expenses, and registration to the SIGIR 2012 conference.
Preference will be given, in this order, to:
- Applicants who are the principal author of a paper and will be presenting the paper at SIGIR.
- Applicants who are attending the doctoral consortium.
- Applicants who are the principal author of a poster or demo and will be presenting the poster or demo at SIGIR.
Preference will also be given to applicants that have only limited alternative travel support; and to applicants who are full-time students at the time of the conference. Non-students may also apply if they are able to demonstrate that they have limited financial capacity to attend the conference. If you are a student, your advisor may be asked to confirm the level of support that you indicate on your submitted application.
Donald B. Crouch Travel Grants
In 2012, as a result of a donation made by the Singhal Family Charitable Fund, additional funding is available for support of students living and studying in developing countries. Students wishing to apply for a Donald B. Crouch Travel Grant should complete the section of the application form requesting information about their educational background.
Application Deadline
The deadline for applying for both forms of travel support is June 12. Decisions will be communicated on or before June 26. Note that early-bird registration for the conference will be in early July; students granted SIGIR travel support will be expected to register using this rate.
Application Process
The application form is linked below. All fields must be completed. Return completed applications before June 12 by email to Ian Soboroff isoboroff / gmail.com, with a Subject line SIGIR Travel Application. Please do not send .html or .doc versions of the form; either send the completed application form as a text file attached to an email, or (if you are sure that your mailer setup sends text emails rather than HTML) embed the application form into an email.
All applications will be acknowledged. If you do not get a reply email within a few days of sending your application, please query via other communications methods, starting by sending email without an attachment. Only applications that have been acknowledged will be considered for funding.
If you have questions, contact Ian Soboroff using the email address above.
